Conference Theme

This year we are promoting the theme: “เพลิน (P-L-E-A-R-N) Play and Learn with Education in Asia through Research for Nature”. This conference will be a great opportunity for educators who work in lifelong learning places such as Zoos, Aquariums, Botanical gardens, NGOs, and other organizations concerned with environmental education and conservation in Asia, to meet and share environmental education and research.

The 7th Asian Zoo Educators Conference 2019 (AZEC 2019) welcomes abstracts and papers on the following topics; however, other associated subjects will be considered

Activities for Lifelong Learning

Environmental Education

Sustainability & Society

Interpretation for Education

Innovation & Technology

Others (e.g. Plastic Pollution, Advances in controlling feral animals, Zoo Volunteer)

Abstract Guidelines

  • Abstracts must be written in English.
  • Authors should use characters in 12-point Times New Roman font. The title should be in bold type.
  • Authors should be listed by surname, followed by first name and his/her institution.
  • Abstracts should be 1.5 spacing. The maximum number of words is limited to 200 words, excluding title and author information.
  • When submitting your abstract, please indicate which presentation type you would prefer: oral presentation, poster, or workshop.
  • When notified of acceptance of an abstract, at least one of authors must complete registration online before deadline.

Presentation Guidelines

Oral presentations

  • Each presentation is scheduled to be 20 minutes long, including 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
  • All finished PowerPoint presentations are to be submitted by November 15, 2019.
  • Only PowerPoint files (.ppt or .pptx) will be accepted. PDFs are also acceptable, but PowerPoint files are highly preferred.
  • Presentation file should be run a PC-compatible computer under Microsoft Operation System with the version of PowerPoint 2010 and above.
  • Please name your PowerPoint file with the format as “last name. Title of presentation.” (e.g. Chanhom. Educational Activity on Sarus crane project.pptx)
  • All presentations must be presented on the provided computer under Microsoft Operation Systems. Computers will be set to play standard video and sound. Please notify the committee via email if you have other audio-visual needs.
  • If you plan to play a video file, please be sure to create your final presentation with videos, sounds, and fonts (from PowerPoint, go to File, Export, then Package Presentation for CD). Make sure to bring the associated files with you to the conference along with your presentation.

Poster presentations

  • Poster sessions will be scheduled, allowing participants time to view and discuss the posters.
  • Authors are responsible for interacting with interested persons during the scheduled time.
  • The size of posters should be no greater than 90 cm x 120 cm (Vertical).
  • The posters must be written in English.
  • Posters must be printed in advance and be ready to present on arrival.
  • Organize your poster with: Title of poster, your name, job title, organization/institution and summary.
  • Title and author’s names should be no less than 70 point. Text (in content) should be no smaller than 24 point.
  • A poster with minimal text and a variety of exciting photos and illustrations is suggested.
  • Create your poster by applying different types of art or font types.
  • At the end of the session, all presenters are responsible for removing their works. The Organizing Committee will not return any posters that are left at the conference venue.
